Apparently hard acceleration after running over a piece of ceramic in the road earlier in the day is a recipe for tire disaster. It made a loud pop and then the car told me to pull over. Luckily I was less than a mile from my dealer so I was able to limp it back. But in that short time the tire went flat and definitely did not live up to its name. I am disappoint.

And this is why I recommend fitting real tires and just carrying a Slime kit and making sure your AAA is paid up to all my BMW/Mini clients who are afflicted with these. They suck at everything tires are supposed to do, and the one thing they’re not, running flat. If they’re stuck somewhere, it’s unlikely they’ll find a duplicate tire, and if they do it’s million dollars. At that point it makes no difference what’s on the wheel, so they may as well improve the ride (and grip, and treadwear) with conventional tires.

I had a non runflat Pirelli blow its sidewall over a small pothole last summer. I don’t think I’ll get another set once these are worn out.

If these wear out before the end of my lease I’ll be getting the Contis.
